The change in the scaffold regulations
from BS5973 to the new European regulation EN12811
means that all scaffolding structures should be
erected in accordance with a pre-designed drawing.
In light of this Fast Fix invested heavily in a
bespoke CAD programme and employed a full time CAD
technician to produce scaffolding layout drawings.
Prior to erection of any scaffold structure, a site
survey is carried out to ascertain the proximity
of other buildings, manhole locations and anything
else that may affect the scaffold design. Further
to the survey, the technician then designs the scaffold
and produces a set of working drawings. From the
design a 'picking list' of the required components
is produced which alleviates the need for surplus
material handling and storage on site.
The scaffold itself is relatively easy to design
due to its' modular nature. The loading capacities
for each individual bay size have all been pre-determined
by the manufacturer, therefore once a layout has
been produced, the design becomes a fully calculated
scaffold structure. If required, due to the height
or need to add debris netting or monaflex sheeting
to a facade, tying patterns can be quickly overlaid
and the relevant calculations produced. |
